Hazard of retrograde aortography in dissecting aneurysm.

چکیده
AORTOGRAPHY by translumbar, retroIAJL grade femoral injection, and retrograde catheterization, are all now considered moderately safe and efficacious diagnostic procedures. It is our objective to describe a potential hazard in retrograde arterial catheterization for the diagnosis of dissecting aneurysm, that to our knowledge, has not previously been described. Two cases are presented in which the retrograde catheter entered the false lumen of a dissecting aneurysm. Case Reports Case 1

متن کاملRecognition and management of dissecting aneurysms of the aorta.
The current approach to treatment at St. Mary's Hospital of dissecting aortic aneurysms uses a period of induced hypotension before aortography and consideration for surgical correction. There are 13 survivors of a series of 24 patients treated in this way.
متن کاملComputed tomography: the investigation of choice for aortic dissection?
Computed tomography has become established as complementary to aortography in the investigation of patients with suspected aortic dissection. Two cases of dissecting aneurysm are reported in which extensive aortography failed to show evidence of dissection. In both cases dissection was demonstrated by computed tomography. The diagnosis was confirmed in one case at operation and in the other cas...
متن کاملDirect repair of dissecting aneurysms of the aorta.
DISSECTING ANEURYSM of the aorta has beeln recognized as a clinical and pathologic entity for 200 years.' For most of this time it was considered sufficiently uncommon and carried such a hopeless prognosis that it received scant attention except as a medical curiosity. Until recently the majority of cases were diagnosed only post mortemii. Renewed interest in the problem has shown that the inci...
متن کاملComplications of Aortography.
RECENT interest in the surgical treatment of renal hypertension has brought about the widespread use of retrograde aortography. The percutaneous transfemoral technic described by Seldinger 1 has produced improved arteriograms and is reported to be relatively free from complications. In a recent paper, Adeney and Fraser2 reported no complications from percutaneous retrograde aortography in 103 c...
